Arctic Medical Laboratories (Grand Rapids, MI) is validating a simple saliva sampling kit for SARS-CoV-2 testing
in collaboration with Mercy Health System and the Kent County Health and Human Services. This saliva test is
identical to that used for popular direct-to-consumer DNA testing for ancestry or disposition to common
diseases. Testing is performed on 1 mL of saliva which has been deposited into an ergonomic collection device.
This collection method has greater patient acceptability and the sampling process is less resource-intensive.

We have the ability to perform 3000 SARS-CoV-2 tests a day and have access to an unlimited number of saliva
collection devices. Our capacity can easily scale in our spacious laboratory located in the creatively repurposed
Broadway Avenue American Seating Park facility.
Our laboratory is equipped with high throughput robotic technology resulting in accurate detection and rapid
results. Arctic’s target performance rate is a 24-hour turnaround time once samples are received in our
laboratory.
Our test requisition forms are machine-readable (“optical character recognition”) optimized to enable rapid test
laboratory intake.
